Bronx-Based Franchisee Charged with Wage Theft

New York State Attorney General Eric T. Schneiderman and the U.S. Department Of Labor announced criminal charges against a Papa John’s Franchisee for wage theft. Charges seek jail time and $230,000 in back wages. At issue is the allegation that the company owner failed to pay minimum wage and overtime to approximately 300 current and former employees. Court documents claim the Franchisee created fictitious identities in order to conceal overtime and filed fraudulent tax returns.
